But it's disappearing fast, dontcha know!
The United States reported 52,789 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, the largest single-day total since the start of the pandemic. President Trump speculated in a Fox Business interview that the virus was “going to sort of just disappear” at some point.
Experts say that is unlikely, unless an overwhelming majority of people are infected and develop immunity, which could lead to millions of deaths, or through the successful development and deployment of a vaccine. There is a chance the coronavirus will never go away, some experts have warned.
Lack of national leadership from the outset of the pandemic by moron vector Donald "COVID Donnie" Trump -- at times denying, downplaying, blame- shifting, and ultimately abdicating responsibility -- has brought us to this point, and will continue to cause unnecessary deaths and hardships for the American people. We should also remember those states, led by Trump toadies, who shut down too late and then opened too early: Florida (7,160 new cases/ day avg.), Texas (6,319 avg.), Arizona (3,416 avg.), Georgia (2,123 avg.), South Carolina (1,432 avg.).Anthony Fauci, the country’s top infectious disease expert, attributed rising case numbers in the United States at least partially to the fact lockdown measures were more lenient than those in some European countries that have since managed to turn the tide on the virus.

To forestall wingnut comments about "Whadabout California?!", in contrast to Republican- led states, Democrat- led California responsibly shut down early and opened late. The origin of the surge there was outlined by Dr. Anthony Fauci:
I don’t think it’s anything that the state of California is doing wrong or not, it’s what the response of the people are to what the opening process is.California is breaking records not because of anti- science, incompetent (i.e., Republican) leadership, but because it was likely a victim of its own success early on, leading people to think the crisis had passed. Freedumb- loving maskless covidiots throughout the state were also helpful in seeing that the virus spread.
Let's also keep in mind the death toll is likely significantly higher than what's being officially reported:
COVID-19 deaths in the U.S. may be 28% higher than official count, study estimates https://t.co/fkxAli1x3j

Please, wear a mask in public and make your loved ones wear one, too!
