One would think after wide mockery of her "tennis pavilion" project at the White (Supremacist) House, she'd lay off further meddling with the iconic property. One would be wrong. Her latest bungling is the remaking of the historic Rose Garden, the results of which are best illustrated by this photo:
Gone are the flowering crabapple trees planted by Jackie Kennedy, and the rose bushes planted by a succession of First Ladies since 1913. Grass was replaced by a concrete walk. The result is a cold, colorless space, one that reflects the brutalist Trumpian vision.
"Melanie" will be giving a likely plagiarized speech from the ruined Rose Garden during the Rethuglican convention next week. No word yet on whether her fashion choices will lean toward white colonialist or racist modern.
I think I read somewhere that Melania was using a plan from an earlier Rose Garden, but that doesn't excuse this decimation. Leave it to the Trumps to remove all of the color and just use white. The lovely flowering tres, the beautiful vivid flowers, and greenery...all ripped out. And of course they had to add a walkway so the Third Lady doesn't sink her four inch spike heels into the grass.
ReplyDeleteIt's a small thing among many bigger problems, but for fuck's sake, do they have to spoil every last thing in the White House? They already had Don's brother's service there, so they've already treated it like a common funeral parlor.
I just hate them.
donnah -- So many things they've done that are far worse, but it's emblematic of their nihilistic and crude lifestyles. They can't help themselves (except to taxpayer money).
