Mid-Week Birthday Song: Clearly Now

Singer Johnny Nash, who turns 80 (!) today, rode the reggae music wave of the early 1970s. Although Houston-born Nash wasn't Jamaican, he was one of the first to record reggae music in Jamaica. His hit, "I Can See Clearly Now," has been covered by numerous artists since, including Jamaican singer Jimmy Cliff. Here's a vintage video of Nash singing his upbeat, hopeful hit in and near, of all places, Lafayette Square in Washington, DC, the site of the thuggish gassing of Black Lives Matter protesters on June 1 so that Trump could have his obscene photo op. With his removal from office, it will be a bright shiny day.
