Sunday Reflection: The Vote

"The vote is precious. It's almost sacred, so go out and vote like you never voted before. The vote is the most powerful nonviolent tool we have." Iconic civil rights leader and Congressman, the late John Lewis. Lewis passed away before he could see the nation elect its first woman, and a woman of color, to the Vice Presidency. Along with our contemporary civil rights leaders like Stacey Abrams and the Rev. William Barber II, Lewis made this historic election possible. People did vote like they never voted before in this election, and they lifted our nation up. But, as John Lewis would have warned, the fight continues -- the good fight -- for decency, opportunity, respect and nonviolence in the months and years ahead as we make "good trouble."
