“I've been absolutely terrified every moment of my life and I've never let it keep me from doing a single thing that I wanted to do.” -- renowned artist Georgia O'Keeffe, whose birthday anniversary is celebrated today.
Often described as the "Mother of American Modernism," O'Keeffe often chose enlarged details of flowers and landscapes of the American southwest as her subjects. In recognition of her groundbreaking art work, O'Keeffe was awarded both the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the National Medal of Arts.
