Today happens to be the birthday of two musicians in different genres and generations. The late and troubled jazz trumpeter and singer Chet Baker died tragically in 1988, but produced some of the most memorable "cool jazz" recordings in the '50 and '60 and beyond. Master guitarist Jorma Kaukonen, a founding member of rock music's Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna, turns 80 (!) today, still touring and performing solo on guitar. Enjoy.
