Republican Extremists Edging Closer To Violence

The seditious, treasonous Republican Party and its frothing Falangists, ladies and gentlemen:

The Arizona Republican Party late Monday asked supporters if they were willing to give their lives in the fight over the results of the presidential election.

The party retweeted right-wing activist Ali Alexander's promise that he is "willing to give my life for this fight."

"He is. Are you?" the state GOP added.

Here's the tweet (until someone scrubs it):

Knowing that the chairperson of the Arizona Republican Party is extreme crackpot Kelli Ward, who fits in with other Arizona seditionists and professional "patriots", that tweet is completely in character. You can be assured she'll face no repercussions for this incitement to violence from fellow banana Republicans.  But perhaps a visit from the FBI or Secret Service might be forthcoming.

Meanwhile, in Michigan, other violence- minded Trumpers weren't just having armed demonstrations at the Secretary of State's house.  They had other public officials to harass and intimidate:

Hours after Michigan state Rep. Cynthia A. Johnson blasted Republicans for inviting President Trump’s personal attorney, Rudolph W. Giuliani, to hold a hearing last week with supposed witnesses of voter fraud, the Democratic lawmaker’s phone began ringing nonstop.

Over two days, Johnson, who is Black, received nearly 100 calls from angry Trump supporters, according to a Facebook post with 10 screenshots of the incoming calls, which she called “a sampling.” She had been doxed, she said, and now her harshest critics had a direct line to aim their racist threats.

“You should be swinging from a f------ rope, you Democrat,” one woman said in a voice mail laced with racial slurs, according to Johnson’s Facebook post linking to a recording of the message.

Needless to say, these vicious morons need to be located and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law before this bullshit gets even further out of hand.

It feels like we as a nation are sitting on a giant powder keg, waiting for someone to throw a lit match. We have Moscow Mitch withholding funds that would save people's lives, we have a repeating flood of ridiculous suits in key states and the Supreme Court, and we have a pandemic that kills over a thousand people a fucking day. And we have to deal with hate groups spawned by the Republican party who incite attacks and violence on our own people.

Trump is the cause, and those who boost up him and his massive ego. He should have been kicked out of the White House after he lost the election, but that's not how the rules work, unfortunately. I just hope we can regain some sort of balance, dignity, and functionality before that lit match lands.

donnah -- You've summed up our situation well. Trump still has a lot of damage he'll do, well into the Biden Administration, and won't give a damn about violence from his cult breaking out. To him, it will be a sign of his perverse power and the loyalty of his cult.
