Giuliani's Woes With The Defamation Suit

We noted on Monday that the filing of a $1.3 billion defamation lawsuit in Federal court against Elite Strike Force Power Ranger Kraken Commander and flatulent clown Rudy "Toot Toot" Giuliani means that he faces a world of legal hurt. While he was spreading provable falsehoods about Dominion Voting Systems' equipment in public, Giuliani declined to make those charges in a court of law, knowing the rules of evidence would apply, a key indicator that he knew the truth but chose not to tell it.

His and his collaborators' defaming statements about Dominion were aimed at destroying the public's confidence in the election results and in stoking loser Trump's hopes to overturn the results, while Toot Toot rang up the legal bill. Unfortunately for him, Dominion will be able to demonstrate that Toot Toot's prolific, public lying about their machines has damaged their good reputation and business, in terms of cancelled contracts, etc. Vox's Ian Millhiser has a good read on the bind that Toot Toot finds himself in:

"It is too soon to know exactly how much business Dominion will lose because of the conspiracy theories targeting it, so there’s no way to say right now how much money Dominion should be able to collect from the people who popularized that conspiracy theory. But when all the damage is done, the total amount could be simply enormous. In the Giuliani suit, Dominion seeks $651,735,000 in compensatory damages, plus an additional $651,735,000 in punitive damages. (Punitive damages are sometimes awarded when a defendant is found to have engaged in willful misconduct, in order to deter that defendant from acting the same way in the future.)

The Dominion lawsuits, in other words, could wind up being one of the primary vehicles for accountability against Trump collaborators who have thus far evaded consequences for aiding and abetting Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election. At least some of those collaborators could wind up having to turn over huge sums to Dominion."  (our emphasis)

There's no question that Giuliani will pay a steep price for his insane, unprovable lies about Dominion Voting Systems. We hope it's crushing and career ending for this delusional charlatan.

Between Rudy and the My Pillow nut, Dominion will have its legal team hopping. Here's hoping they sue the two of them into oblivion.
