Sunday Reflection: Protecting Freedom

"You cannot take your freedoms for granted. Just like generations who have come before you, you have to do your part to preserve and protect those freedoms... you need to be preparing yourself to add your voice to our national conversation." -- former First Lady Michelle Obama, who celebrates her birthday today, in her last speech as First Lady on January 6, 2017.  How we miss her and her husband President Obama, especially after the darkness and dystopia of the last four years under a mentally disturbed authoritarian.

On January 6 at the Capitol, we saw what happens when people give up on democracy and give in to a depraved, narcissistic political cult figure. We can't take our democracy for granted because there are too many willing to take it away.

I think the question for many who feel the motivation, is how best to "add your voice to our national conversation", more than one every 2/4 years or within our limited circles. Other than commenting in social media, sending calls/emails, signing petitions, supporting your local party org with input/time/resources, participating in events, ... how does one get the all-important sense that your voice does actually add to that conversation? That sense is essential I think to making the effort sustainable.
