They together become an intelligence which is not simply of the brain, which does not calculate, but feels and thinks." -- Dutch-born artist Piet Mondrian (3-7-1872 - 2-1-1944), who was one of the most influential abstract artists of the 20th century. His simple, geometric paintings were revolutionary in the early 1920s, and remain fresh to this day, being widely emulated and incorporated into designs for clothing, furnishings, etc.
