Tucker Carlson revives the fascist "replacement theory" --
We have to talk about Tucker Carlson, Replacement Theory, and the Right's usage of white supremacist paranoia and apocalyptic fearmongering to legitimize violence.

This is fascism. Period. We've seen it before in Germany and here in America.

Who needs infrastructure when GQP has shiny culture war objects? --
"As debate over the infrastructure bill intensifies in the weeks to come, Republicans may focus less on trying to discredit the proposal than on diverting their voters—by keeping their attention on disputes that widen the cultural gulf..." https://t.co/vc5oWJujhS

A heartbreaking sign of the times: In isolation wards where patients die alone, craving the touch of their loved ones, nurses fill gloves with warm water to simulate that comfort. They call it the Hand of God. pic.twitter.com/KAhzweRlB4

"The Hand of God" will have to do when the hand of a loved one is denied because of Covid. When my father passed some twenty years ago, it comforted him to have his family at his bedside. We took turns holding his hand. It was a good experience for the family as well. My mother died alone last September because Covid. I hope that one of the hospital staff held her hand as she passed, but the Hand of God would have sufficed (she was pretty far gone). She didn't have Covid that we knew of, but the staff followed hospital policy because they couldn't be sure. She was just a frail old lady (96 y.o.) but mercifully died quickly...
ReplyDeleteJimmy -- it's an unimaginably sad situation. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
