Calling all "journalists," calling all "journalists" --
Today is going to be maddening. Journalists will be tempted to cover the Jan 6 hearings like they cover everything else: as a strategic game between two political sides, downplaying anything “we already knew” and framing it in terms of “how it will play for Dems in the midterms”

I beg of my friends in journalism: Please do not do this. Instead, think in the terms that @BrendanNyhan always reminds us of: “What would you say if you saw this in another country?”

How would you cover this story, it’s HISTORY & POLITICAL CONTEXT to *explain* it to people.
Because what is at stake here is no less than the sanctity and longevity of our democratic institutions. And as much as devolving elite norms are damaging institutions, journalists could help safeguard them by reminding us that democracy is the goal.

The notion that journalists frame these stories in terms of political strategy rather than how they affect democratic health is wild to me. Journalists, What do you think your job will be in an undemocratic America?

You will become “public relations professionals”…
You need to point out that the reason Republicans and Fox need to diminish the January 6 investigation is because they're planning on doing the exact same thing in nearly the exact same way.

Keep the hardware flowing! --
Ukrainian troops say weapons provided by the US are giving them an advantage because they are lighter and more precise than the ones used by Russia. @mchancecnn reports from the front lines. Watch here: https://t.co/uuVuayqdla

Guns- over- children Republicans --
We just passed legislation to protect children from gun violence and 98% of republicans voted no. pic.twitter.com/da0zQqEVJK

As I reflect on last night and America today, a thought. Inflation is global and temporary. Gun violence is purely American and permanent. As you look to November, only vote for those who are on the side of saving lives. Vote for gun safety candidates.
