Another Day, Another Russian War Crime, Cont'd.

Last week, we noted the savage Russian missile attack on a housing unit in Chasiv Yar, where the current death toll is 47 and counting, with more digging into the rubble ahead. We're getting reports today of another attack, this time with cruise missiles, on the civilian population in Ukraine, this time on the interior city of Vinnytsia, only 167 miles southwest of Kyiv. At least 20 were killed, including 3 children, as the Associated Press reports:

"Russian missiles that struck a city in central Ukraine killed at least 20 people and wounded about 90 more Thursday, Ukrainian authorities said. The country’s president called the attack 'an open act of terrorism' against civilians in locations without military value.

Ukraine’s national police said three missiles hit an office building and damaged nearby residential buildings in Vinnytsia, which is located 268 kilometers (167 miles) southwest of the capital, Kyiv.

A Russian submarine in the Black Sea fired Kalibr cruise missiles at the city, and three children were among the dead, the deputy head of Ukraine’s presidential office, Kyrylo Tymoshenko, wrote on the Telegram messaging app. The Russian military has not confirmed the strike."

Russian thug and war criminal is targeting civilian populations to terrorize them and to force the government to bargain away Ukraine's freedom and sovereignty. The HIMARS missile systems -- roughly a dozen so far -- are hitting key Russian positions and ammunition dumps successfully, but many more are needed. The Russian submarine's attack from the Black Sea illustrates the need for Ukraine to receive appropriate weapons to counter Russia's advantage there. The U.S. and its western allies urgently need to step up the supply, both in quantity and in pace.
