We're somewhat more accustomed to seeing images like this from our own American West in recent years. Seeing fires in Europe brought on by excessively dry and hot conditions is another striking example of the peril we humans are placing ourselves in by our (read American) dilatory response to the existential crisis of global climate change. It's been estimated that over 1,500 people have died from the heat across Europe to date.
