The police search my hotel room for bags of cash worth $1,000,000 I stole from a bank, and find and seize my business card I accidentally dropped. Cannon appoints a Sp. Master to review every dollar bill, even though I cannot obtain return of anything seized.
I would guess that DOJ will seek review of Cannon's order, especially targeting the injunction. If a suspect can go into court and get an order to stop the criminal investigation, it's hard for the executive branch to function. It's a fundamental matter of separation of powers.
