The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly

The good:

President Joe Biden used the searing memories of Selma’s “Bloody Sunday” to recommit to a cornerstone of democracy, lionizing a seminal moment from the civil rights movement at a time when he has been unable to push enhanced voting protections through Congress and a conservative Supreme Court has undermined a landmark voting law.

“Selma is a reckoning. The right to vote ... to have your vote counted is the threshold of democracy and liberty. With it anything’s possible,” Biden told a crowd of several thousand people seated on one side of the historic Edmund Pettus Bridge, named for a reputed Ku Klux Klan leader.

“This fundamental right remains under assault. The conservative Supreme Court has gutted the Voting Rights Act over the years. Since the 2020 election, a wave of states and dozens and dozens of anti-voting laws fueled by the ‘Big Lie’ and the election deniers now elected to office,” he said.

March 7, 1965.  How much has changed since, and how little.

The bad:

Russian invasion forces use five methods to abduct Ukrainian children to Russia, said Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights and Child Rehabilitation, Daria Herasymchuk, Ukrinform reported on March 5.

Herasymchuk noted that the Russian invaders’ actions are systematic, and cannot be classified as chaotic and unplanned.

The Russian invaders target children whose parents have been killed or put in prison, as well as children living in orphanages. There are also cases where children were taken from families under the pretext that they will be sent to a children’s recreational camp.

The invaders then make efforts to prevent the children from reuniting with their families.

“They collect phones from children right away and don’t allow them to share the location. It’s very difficult to find a child. The Russians are dispersing Ukrainian children across their territory and constantly moving them around,” she said.

“As soon as we learn something about the location of children, they are moved to another part of Russia. That is why we have returned only 307 children out of 16,000 so far.”

She stressed the urgency to quickly address the issue of child abduction as part of the genocide against Ukrainians.

“Our goal is to stop child kidnapping immediately,” Herasymchuk said. “We need international help for that.”

About 6,000 Ukrainian children have been detained in one of Russia’s 43 “re-education” camps, said Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, on March 2.

Nothing says "crimes against humanity" more than targeting and abducting children.  Russian bastards.

The ugly:

Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Tex.) couldn’t spare a kind word for President Joe Biden even when talking about his recent cancer diagnosis.

Instead, Jackson lamented that a cancerous lesion had been removed from the president’s chest.

“Biden is the cancer,” Jackson said on Fox News on Sunday. “He’s what needs to be removed, not the lesion they found.”

Jackson, who served as White House physician to presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump, has since turned into a conspiracy theorist ― and has become known for outlandish claims such as his pronouncement that Trump could live to 200 or that the former president should be the nation’s “MAGA king.”

Drunky McPillpopper -- known for gushing about the Malignant Loser's "good genes," and for his dishing out opiods and wrecking a car during one of his bouts of inebriation -- is  and was clearly an unfit person with a big ax to grind.  Just what we want in our elected officials.
