Sentencing The Insurrectionists: Trump Was His "Idol"

Trumpist crank and insurrectionist Daniel "D.J." Rodriguez was one of the most violent attackers in the January 6 Trumpist insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, videoed viciously tasing Metropolitan Police Officer Michael Fanone in the neck and causing him traumatic injuries. He also entered the Capitol and rifled through files and obstructed the electoral vote process through his mob action. Today, Rodriguez received some measure of justice when District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson pronounced a sentence of 12.5 years in prison, less than the 14 years Government had requested in their sentencing memo.

A fuller picture of Rodriguez is highlighted in that sentencing memo, in which Rodriguez called for "blood" and writing "welcome to the revolution" on social media. His devotion to the Malignant Loser was complete, idolizing him as his "dad" and threatening President-elect Biden on the day of the riot. Sadly, Officer Fanone can't be adequately compensated for the horror and lasting injuries visited on him by this deranged jackal. While Rodriguez's sentence is one of the longest among the insurrectionists, it seems inadequate for his violent, seditious behavior.
