Mid-Week Birthday Song

Today's choice of songs was a layup, in basketball terms: it's from Taylor Swift. Mega music star Swift turns 34 today, and her song portfolio is as extensive and high quality as any genius twice her age, deeply influencing pop culture and music worldwide. Her fans include such diverse musicians as Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Beyonce, Dolly Parton, and Carole King. The winner of 12 Grammys, an Emmy, 40 American Music Awards, and an inductee in the Songwriters Hall of Fame, the superlatives of critics and fellow artists for Swift are prolific. She was this year's TIME magazine "Person of the Year," drawing the impotent rage of MAGA morons who resent her support for women's reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ rights, gun safety measures and registering young voters.

She has re-recorded her songs from earlier days to establish total ownership of them after a nasty fight with her former record label and manager, and released them as "Taylor's Version." A number of songs, including today's, are re-worked songs "from the vault," meaning they were never released before. Enjoy the lyric video of her "Is It Over Now? (Taylor's Version)", released in October.
