The Company Behind Trump's $91.6 Million Bond

Now that the financial penalties for defaming his rape victim E. Jean Carroll are coming due, the Malignant Loser had to scrounge up the money himself or seek a bond that would ensure he pays. The company on the paperwork, Federal Insurance Company, is actually a subsidiary of Chubb Group LLC, a major insurer headquartered in Switzerland. CNN reports:

"Insurance company Chubb underwrote the bond for Trump, which the former president signed on Tuesday. Under the terms of the bond, Chubb will only secure the appeal of the $83.3 million judgment, not any future appeals.

The bond size is greater than the judgment because the district court generally requires a party to post 110% of the bond.

In a statement, a Chubb spokesperson declined to comment on the specifics of Trump’s bond."

If that were the sum total of it, it might pass the smell test. However, Chubb has some interesting history with the Malignant Loser, according to the Washington Post:

"Trump has a history with Chubb, which has provided him insurance policies in the past — dealings that came under scrutiny in the civil case brought by James.

James alleged that in 2010, Chubb sent an insurance appraiser to determine the worth of Trump’s triplex penthouse apartment at Trump Tower, but that Trump rushed the expert out of the premises within 15 minutes before the assessor could take any measurements.

The Chubb appraiser was also not allowed to see the primary bedroom because he was told that Melania Trump was sleeping. Trump later falsely tripled the size of the 11,000-square-foot apartment, using that false measure to drastically inflate his worth by overvaluing that property and others." (our emphasis)

Raw Story also notes that Chubb is tied into the Russian oil and gas business, and has been instrumental in its extraction and export, giving the Kremlin resources to continue their aggression in Ukraine:

"The environmental nonprofit group Rainforest Action Network (RAN) noted on its website that Chubb does business around the world, including with several major American adversaries. The group pointed out that Chubb is "insuring oil and gas extraction and transport in Russia, fueling Russia’s war on Ukraine."

'In fact, Chubb called Russian oil and gas 'one of the most promising activities' of its Russian operations,' RAN wrote." (our emphasis)

It's essential that entities providing vast sums of money to the Malignant Loser for surety bonds, etc., be known to the public, since it poses a national security threat to have any adversary involved in rescuing him from the consequences of his criminality.
