Trump Checks In With Probation Officer

Today, the Malignant Loser is having a pre-sentencing interview with a New York City probation officer to help the court determine an appropriate sentence for his 34 felony conviction in the election interference / porn star payoff trial. He'll be sentenced on July 11, just days before the MAGA cult gathering in Milwaukee to nominate him. From ABC News:

"A probation officer is expected to conduct the interview – which Trump will attend remotely from his Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, Florida – to prepare a report recommending the appropriate punishment for Judge Juan Merchan to impose at the former president’s sentencing next month. [snip]

The interview will not be public, and the report prepared ahead of Trump’s sentence will likely remain under seal.

In the New York state courts, a probation officer, social worker, or psychologist usually interviews a defendant convicted of a crime to better access their personal and criminal history before preparing a presentence report for the judge overseeing the case. According to Pace University law professor Bennett Gershman, that report is particularly important in cases where a judge accepts a guilty plea or is unfamiliar with the defendant’s background and conduct." (our emphasis)

You can count on the felon to show a lack remorse, to lash out at the court, and to display the crass victimhood he's famous for. Also note that that his background includes not only the recent judgements against him for defamation of his sexual assault / rape victim E. Jean Carroll, and the business fraud case brought by the State of New York, but all of his previous history in court: the scams (Trump University, Trump Foundation, etc.), his bankruptcies and more.

It's a pity that the interview won't be made public, but any fair assessment by the probation officer should result in a recommendation for jail time.
