The story of the libel against Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio told by Tom in a nutshell: the need to take attention away from VP Harris, using immigrants as a focus of MAGAt anger and hate, employing lies and smears as a method, and, when proved false, moving on to the next Big Lie (which the media will repeat until challenged). As the cartoon's JD / JV / JZ Vance notes, his constituents in Springfield will "rue the day" he was elected Senator.
