"Big Lie" Election Officials Threaten Vote

Reuters has a story about MAGA election officials who are in key positions on election boards in critical swing states, poised to try to fix the election for the Malignant Loser. They have taken the lessons from the Malignant Loser's failed attempt to overturn the election in 2020, and are trying to bullet proof them. From the story:

"In Michigan’s Macomb County, the Republican head of the board that will certify November’s election results called on former U.S. President Donald Trump to fight to stay in power after his election loss in 2020.

In North Carolina’s Henderson County, a Republican election board member emailed legislators in August to claim, without evidence, that Democrats were flooding the state with illegal votes.

And in Pennsylvania, considered a must win for both Trump and his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, Republican officials in six counties have voted against certifying results since 2020.  [snip]

Reuters examined election boards in the five largest counties in each of the seven battleground states that are likely to determine the election’s outcome. It found that nearly half – or 16 of the 35 county election boards – had at least one member who has expressed pro-Trump skepticism about the electoral process, including theories that Trump won the 2020 election, doubts about the integrity of voting machines or beliefs about widespread fraud in mail ballots."  (our emphasis)

Special Counsel Jack Smith has described in detail the criminal maneuverings of the Malignant Loser and his enablers four years ago, including dozens of failed frivolous lawsuits, having fake electors produce and deliver documents, and the violent and deadly attack on the Capitol. For every election-denying official, there are attorneys and activists ready to battle them, from the NAACP's Legal Defense Fund to Democracy Docket, the project of Dem super lawyer Marc Elias. Shining a light on their efforts to cheat will help mitigate their effectiveness, but these MAGA zealots may need to face criminal courts ultimately.
