Skeets Of The Day

Special Counsel report, left to history? --

p 137. Final sentence of report: "but for Mr. Trump's election and imminent return to the presidency, the office assessed that the admissible evidence was sufficient to obtain and sustain a conviction at trial."

it's the view that we have to hope history will record, and that we know makes Trump froth at the mouth in anger.

The most frustrating thing about Smith's report is that the facts were known: Trump planned in advance to use false claims of voter fraud to challenge a loss, his words incited J6 violence, he supported rioters, calling them things like "patriots," & Americans, nonetheless, reelected him.

Sen Adam Schiff (D-CA) response to Special Counsel Jack Smith’s final report on Trump 2020 election interference case: “A guilty man was not brought to justice. The principle that no one is above the law was not upheld.”

Secretary of Defense?  This guy? --

When Pete Hegseth was asked about his New Year’s resolutions on Will Cain’s podcast in mid-January 2024, he spoke of alcohol. “The less booze thing is not working out for me,” he said. In an interview on Megyn Kelly’s SiriusXM show last month, Hegseth claims if he is confirmed as..

Blunt statement from Sen. Jack Reed, ranking member on the Senate Armed Services Committee, to Pete Hegseth: "I do not believe that you are qualified to meet the overwhelming demands of this job."

"Did you sexually assault a woman?" Pete Hegseth: "I'm not a perfect person" Disqualifying.

Hegseth is patently unfit for office. But that is the defining feature of Trump nominees. The only thing more soul-destroying than the inadequacy of the nominees themselves, is the cowardly servitude of Republican members who will confirm them anyway for fear of Trump reprisals. Negligence.

Psst, MAGA Mike "New Moses" Johnson (and all you Congresscultists in tornado country) --

Someone tell that sanctimonious pixie Speaker Mike Johnson that if he places conditions on California's ability to rebuild, his state, Louisiana, the Welfare Queen of Federalism, won't be able to fix any of its roads because that money comes from the far more successful economy of California.

— Mrs. Betty Bowers (@mrsbettybowers.bsky.social) January 13, 2025 at 10:02 PM

To Mike Johnson, Thou shalt not ‘impose conditions’ on disaster aid to California. California is the 6th largest economy in the world. If thou fuck around, thou shalt find out.

Things that go BOOM! in Russia ... --

One of the successfully struck targets by Ukrainian UAVs last night was the Saratov refinery. This footage shows a huge fire in the center of the facility. It was quite a night for Russia. Source: Telegram / Kiber Boroshno

... as a traitorous lifeline is prepared --

New in PN: Putin needs Trump's help more than ever "Putin’s gambit has failed, leaving Russia in crisis. Yet, based on the statements of Trump and his courtiers, the incoming president seems determined to throw Putin a lifeline. The consequences of this traitorous prospect would be catastrophic."
