Yesterday, the Senate confirmed conspiracy theorist and rabid MAGAt Kash Patel as F.B.I. Director in a 51-49 vote (Republican Sens. Murkowski and Collins joining all Democrats and Independents in voting "no"). Here are what some Senators said about that vote.
“He’s an instrument of Donald Trump’s effort to destroy the Justice Department and the FBI so that he is absolutely and completely not only above the law, but beyond the law.”
“This is the worst possible moment to put a person like Kash Patel in charge of the FBI...My prediction is that if you vote for Kash Patel, more than any other confirmation vote you make, you will come to regret this one to your grave."
Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT)
“For the ordinary nominee, any of the defects in character or experience or performance in past jobs would have been disqualifying. We live in a time that is not ordinary, and this nominee is not normal. I’ve never seen any nominee to a position of significant responsibility that has as many disqualifying factors in his or her background... he is on a mission to use the powers of this office and Donald Trump’s name for political retribution against his enemies, Trump’s enemies, against MAGA’s opponents. To use these institutions for political retribution is the height of irresponsibility. … He doesn’t just hint it at. It’s a theme that runs through his public comments.”
Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI)
“Kash Patel, mark my words, will cause evil in this building behind us. And the Republicans who work for him will rue that day.”
We will all rue the day that this MAGAt misfit -- one of the worst of the worst -- became F.B.I. Director. Every one of the Malignant Fascist's most high- profile, dangerous and unfit nominees have now been confirmed by the servile, bootlicking Republican Senate: Hegseth at Defense, Gabbard at National Intelligence, Brainworm at HHS, Bondi at Justice, now Patel at F.B.I. Missing Sherrod Brown, Bob Casey, and Jon Tester (but not Joe Manchin) more than ever.
🙂 Thank you to Collins and Murkowski for again saying "Nay." 🤔 There are many possible reasons why Mitch went back to saying "Yea" on Patel when he didn't need to...he has already announced he won't be running again. My belief is that his nay votes on others were not courage...they were simple math. He was willing when he knew his nay would have zero real effect. But, with "the gals/usual suspects" being hard nays ahead of the vote, if one more Republican went rogue, Mitch's nay would be on the bad side of the vote, Patel would be denied, and Mitch is incapable of standing up to the blowback!! The turtle crawled back into his shell...coward!! 🐢🤬
ReplyDeleteMitch deserves a special table in hell next to the fireplace for allowing the Malignant Fascist to escape permanent disqualification from the presidency not once, but twice.
