Absolutely right. Once upon a time, playing politics with the debt ceiling was unthinkable. But during the Obama era, the GOP decided it was, in Mitch McConnell's words, "a hostage worth ransoming." They used it to force spending cuts; Dems should use it to rollback Musk's unconstitutional purges.

The assistant director in charge of the FBI’s New York field office reportedly told staff that they’re in the midst of a “battle”—just as the Trump administration carries out a purge of the agents who investigated the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection.

This is how you cover it. World leaders know that Trump is a simpleton who can be easily flattered into backing down. www.nj.com/politics/202...

Watching the Republicans in Congress completely abdicate all the power they've worked their whole life to achieve is a reminder that fascism is how cowards feel brave.

The bulbous bronzed buffoon's delusions of adequacy --

I think he's truly convinced himself that he can make this happen. His grandiose delusions are only rivaled by those of his Majordomo, Elon Musk. What a pair.

The toddler tech bro/ fanboy takeover --

A 25-year-old Musk engineer has write access to Treasury systems that "control, on a granular level, govt payments that in their totality amount to more than a fifth of the US economy." No prior govt experience. Literally trillions of dollars move through these systems. www.wired.com/story/elon-m...

This is what I think of as a specific kind of ignorance that heavily affects young white guys who work in tech. It says “i don’t know about this, so I assume no one else does either.” It’s new to them, so it must be new to everybody!

Musk has rejected Congress's powers and appointed himself illegally as the sole arbiter of federal spending. What makes it even scarier: He's crowdsourcing his ideas of what to cut to the Hitler fanboys and QAnoners that make up his Twitter following. www.salon.com/2025/02/04/h...

Shoutout --

Shoutout to all the straight white women who voted for Trump without realizing that they would be considered DEI hires too.
