Mid-Week Song: A Passing

Jesse Colin Young, composer, solo artist and former lead singer of the '60s band The Youngbloods, passed away Sunday at 83. Young's songs have been covered by such artists as Three Dog Night and Robert Plant. The Youngblood's biggest hit, "Get Together", became an anthem for the peace movement of the late sixties and beyond. R.I.P.

BONUS: One group that covered Young's songs was the Madison, WI, mostly-female band Paraphernalia, whom we saw periodically performing long ago at Madison hangouts like The Red Shed and The Nitty Gritty. This is their recording from the '60s of his song "Quicksand."
