Comedian Tom Delgado takes us on another of his amusing tours, this time to the Riverdale neighborhood of The Bronx, NY. The area is home to some large mansions, parks, homes of famous people, and at least one disaster. Some surprising tidbits and his usual wry observations.
🤗 The entire video was fascinating, but my favorite part was the Steamboat Henry Clay. I am a sucker for steamboat history! Well, for the disasters, at least, and that means I'll never be done with that research 'cause there were hundreds of them! I caught the bug for steamboat history after I went to my hometown KCMO museum of the Steamboat Arabia. Yes, that's a plug for the museum.*
ReplyDeleteThe Arabia went down in the Missouri river in 1856, got covered in river mud, the river changed its course, and in 1988 the boat was searched for and discovered many feet under a field. The team that spent time and big dollars excavating for it wanted to get wealthy on the loot of the ship. But, the mission slowly changed when the team found so many things perfectly preserved they just couldn't see it as plunder and they put together one of the best museums in the country! 👏👏 Highly recommended!! 🥰
