QOTD -- Pushing Back Against Unlawful Bribery

"...We strongly urge Paramount’s leadership to reconsider pursuing this settlement. Should the settlement proceed, we will be forced to initiate the appropriate legal action on behalf of Freedom of the Press Foundation and, potentially, other Paramount shareholders to hold the company’s executives accountable for breaching their fiduciary duties and wasting corporate assets by engaging in conduct that U.S. senators and others believe could amount to unlawful bribery that falls outside the scope of the business judgment rule.

"Finally, we note that, to the extent you or others have attempted to justify settlement by claiming that not settling could expose you to shareholder liability, that’s nonsense. The courts are highly unlikely to encourage illegality by holding corporate executives liable for not taking potentially unlawful actions, particularly after three U.S. senators wrote a letter stating that the settlement could violate federal law..." -- excerpt from a letter from the Freedom of the Press Foundation (pdf) to Paramount chair Shari Redstone, urging Redstone not to settle with the Malignant Fascist and his bogus lawsuit against CBS' "60 Minutes."  The Malignant Fascist sued Paramount, CBS's parent company, over a 2024 interview with Democratic nominees Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, falsely claiming the interview was edited to make Harris and Walz look good (the MF and his bellhop/ running mate J.D. Vance declined to be interviewed at the time).  Like so many others, Redstone appears to be bending the knee to the MF in order to get the MF regime's approval of a Paramount merger with Skydance Media, a deal valued at $8 billion.  Just another reason why Big Media should not be controlled by mega corporations, but be held in the public interest beyond the corrupt influence of the likes of the MF.

  1. All bribes directed toward the Trump/Musk régime are, by presidential decree, fully legal.

  2. Seemed to me the part of the Harris interview that CBS spliced apart was her answer to Gaza. It was her weakest response (IMHO) so CBS made her look bad twice. Felon Musk should have sent CBS a check for their effort to elect his Orangeness.
