Rewriting History For Oklahoma Schools

Under autocrats, history is one of the first targets of the government.  If the government doesn't like an inconvenient fact, rewrite it to match the lies you've been propagating.  In Oklahoma, the state school board has made sure the kids learn about their cult leader, MAGA and what it means to be a "real American", i.e. not "woke" (defined as anything the right wing objects to or which disproves their lies).  Their treatment of the 2020 election is a case in point.  From the Associated Press:

"Oklahoma’s new social studies standards for K-12 public school students, already infused with references to the Bible and national pride, were revised at the direction of state School Superintendent Ryan Walters. The Republican official has spent much of his first term in office lauding President Donald Trump, feuding with teachers unions and local school superintendents, and trying to end what he describes as 'wokeness' in public schools.

New social studies standards for Oklahoma high school students include study of conspiracy theories related to the 2020 election. The section was added by School Superintendent Ryan Walters and is now the subject of at least one lawsuit: 'Identify discrepancies in 2020 elections results by looking at graphs and other information, including the sudden halting of ballot-counting in select cities in key battleground states, the security risks of mail-in balloting, sudden batch dumps, an unforeseen record number of voters, and the unprecedented contradiction of “bellwether county” trends.'" (our emphasis)

All of this dangerous and dishonest nonsense to please the weak, lying Malignant Fascist, to whom the designation of "loser" is a deep narcissistic wound that cannot be uttered.  True MAGAt believer Walters has raised red flags among some of his own cohort:

"The new standard raised red flags even among Walters’ fellow Republicans, including the governor and legislative leaders. They were concerned that several last-minute changes, including the language about the 2020 election and a provision stating the source of the COVID-19 virus was a Chinese lab, were added just hours before the state school board voted on them.

A group of parents and educators have filed a lawsuit asking a judge to reject the standards, arguing they were not reviewed properly and that they 'represent a distorted view of social studies that intentionally favors an outdated and blatantly biased perspective.'"

This is the outcome when political hacks and zealots populate school boards to push their far right / Christofascist agendas on the general public.  Education to them is merely propaganda, as they accuse educators of engaging in because they deal in facts, not political propagandizing.
