Millions At "No Kings" Events Yesterday (Trump's Parade Not So Much)

From AP:

Masses of demonstrators packed into streets, parks and plazas across the U.S. on Saturday to protest President Donald Trump, marching through downtowns and small towns, blaring anti-authoritarian chants mixed with support for protecting democracy and immigrant rights.

Organizers of the “No Kings” demonstrations said millions had marched in hundreds of events. Governors across the U.S. had urged calm and vowed no tolerance for violence, while some mobilized the National Guard ahead of marchers gathering.  [snip]

Huge, boisterous crowds marched, danced, drummed, and chanted shoulder-to-shoulder in New York, Denver, Chicago, Austin and Los Angeles, some behind “no kings” banners. Atlanta’s 5,000-capacity event quickly reached its limit, with thousands more gathered outside barriers to hear speakers in front of the state Capitol. [snip]

“Today, across red states and blue, rural towns and major cities, Americans stood in peaceful unity and made it clear: we don’t do kings,” the No Kings Coalition said in a statement Saturday afternoon after many events had ended...

We shared a few pics of a local demonstration yesterday.  There were demonstrations in an estimated 2,000 communities, towns, and cities across every state, with Americans standing up against the burgeoning tyranny of the Malignant Fascist and his MAGA/ white nationalist movement.

Here are a few pictures of some of yesterday's larger "No Kings" events around the country.

Yesterday had to have been empowering for Americans who believe our democracy can overcome the MF's onslaught.  We count ourselves among those Americans, but we know this was just one day, and the challenge is to keep this momentum in the face of all the chaos, misdirection, distractions, intimidation, and violence that is the MF's authoritarian playbook.

As far as the MF's $45 million Kim Jung Un- style military parade?

Despite Trump’s attempts to hype the event, attendance appeared light — there were considerably fewer people on the National Mall on Saturday than there would be for a typical Fourth of July celebration. And attendance at Trump’s parade was dwarfed by the millions who showed up at roughly 2,000 anti-Trump “No Kings” protests in cities and towns all over the country...

Sad!

BONUS:  More photos of the "No Kings" events here, good signs here.

BONUS II:  The MF's parade attendance was, uh, underwhelming, and the MF seemed to notice. More here, too.  LOL and enjoy --

Proud of my country for sub-county fair-level turnout.

The contrasting images of a DC ghost town/military parade and 1800 American cities and towns with well-attended protests is going to drive Trump batty.
