Sunday Reflection: Small Men

“It is very queer that the unhappiness of the world is so often brought on by small men.” -- Author Erich Maria Remarque (6/22/1898 - 9/25/1970), whose novel "All Quiet On The Western Front" was based on his own experiences as a German soldier in World War I.  The novel was made into the Academy Award-winning 1930 epic film of the same name, and recently into a 2022 German-language version.  Targeted by the Nazis for being "unpatriotic," Remarque fled to Switzerland and then to the U.S.

Remarque went on to write The Road Back, Arch of Triumph and other successful novels.
