In his typical grandiose, pompous style, using his social media platform, the Malignant Fascist announced a trade deal with "the Socialist Republic of Vietnam after speaking with To Lam, the Highly Respected General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam." (He described it as his "Great Honor," language that a supposedly fierce anti-Communist like the MF would be loath to use).
The great "deal" that the life-long con man struck with Vietnam would impose a 20 - 40 % tax on American consumers purchasing products from Vietnam, while the Vietnamese would place no tariffs placed on goods from the U.S. While Vietnam exports $136 billion in goods to the U.S., the U.S. exports $13 billion to Vietnam, a factor of the relative wealth of the two nations. U.S. businesses may find the Vietnamese market for imported goods near capacity despite no tariffs on their goods. It's been noted that tariff-free access of U.S. goods to Vietnam was the same in the Trans Pacific Partnership that the MF refused to sign in his first term. The Very Stable Genius strikes again.
