Former Fox Channel couch potato and leaker of classified information Defense Secretary Pete "Whiskey Pete" Hegseth has caused some pain to his cult leader's use of the military in civil environments. At yesterday's lie fest announcing the takeover of D.C.'s police force by the Malignant Fascist, Hegseth linked the use of National Guard troops to civil law enforcement duties, which is prohibited by law. The New Republic noted that the statement was picked up by State of California officials and added to the exhibits in their lawsuit against the MF's overreach:
"Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s Monday remarks about the deployment of troops on the streets of Washington, D.C., may have already harmed the Trump administration in its legal battle over the deployment of troops on the streets of Los Angeles.
Monday marked the beginning of a three-day trial in which California is making the case that Hegseth and the Trump administration violated the Posse Comitatus Act—an 1878 federal law forbidding the use of the military for civilian law enforcement purposes—during its crackdown on L.A. protests against its immigration agenda.
During a Monday press conference on Trump’s federal takeover of D.C., Hegseth announced that the National Guard will be 'flowing into the streets of Washington in the coming week' and that “there are other units we are prepared to bring in—other National Guard units, other specialized units.
'They will be strong, they will be tough, and they will stand with their law enforcement partners,' Hegseth said. And 'this is nothing new for DOD,' he added. 'In Los Angeles, we did the same thing, working with the California National Guard, working with ICE officers.'
The comments apparently caught the ears of those hoping to prove that Hegseth unlawfully deployed troops in Los Angeles." (our emphasis)
The judge in the case admitted Hegseth's statement as evidence for the State of California that the use of troops was unlawful. Hegseth's statement is likely to be part of other States' legal arguments against troops being used in law enforcement roles, and that will enrage the vindictive MF.
After his previous screwups, this may finally sideline Whiskey Pete, who's become an embarrassing liability to the MF's regime -- and that's saying something,
