As Putin Escalates Test of NATO, Trump Stalls

In recent days, Russia has sent drones into the airspaces of NATO allies Poland and Romania.  The most recent incursions have prompted the air forces of those countries to respond to meet the provocation. From ABC News:

"NATO allies Poland and Romania both scrambled fighter jets to respond to Russian drone and missile attacks in Ukraine on Saturday, as the alliance looks to bolster its defensive options in response to repeated violations of allied airspace by Russian munitions.

The Polish military said no airspace violations were recorded on Saturday after jets were deployed in the airspace along the border with Ukraine. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk reported in a post to X that defenses "reached the highest state of readiness" in response to "the threat posed by Russian drones operating over Ukraine near the border with Poland."

But, farther south along NATO’s eastern flank, a Russian drone did violate Romanian airspace, according to a statement published by the Defense Ministry in Bucharest.

Two F-16 fighters were dispatched 'to monitor the air situation on the border with Ukraine, following Russian air attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure on the Danube,' the ministry said. The Danube River forms the border between Romania and Ukraine. Russian drones and missiles have repeatedly targeted Ukrainian port and shipping targets there."

Not surprisingly, the Putin-coddling Malignant Fascist is doing everything in his power to avoid a confrontation with Russian war criminal Vladimir Putin, as he tests NATO's defense readiness and response.  He's stalled a decision on imposing sanctions supported by Congress that would cripple Russia's oil and gas industries -- the main source of their war revenue -- and has just that NATO countries should act first and apply secondary sanctions on China for purchasing Russian oil, knowing that coordinated action among them will take an inordinate amount of time while Ukrainians die.  As an added gift to Putin, the MF continues to blame former President Biden and Ukrainian President Zelenskyy for the war, repeating the Kremlin's position.

Congress should put a tough sanctions bill in front of the MF and promise to override his veto if necessary.  Sadly the reality is that the Republican majorities in Congress won't challenge their cult leader or his blatant infatuation for his Russian role-model.
