You can see why it's been variously described as "bonkers," "tone-deaf," and "the global equivalent of a stand-up comedy show". We'll also add "deeply racist," "unAmerican," and "dirt dumb." People watching this must have done so with a mixture of horror and incredulity that such a lowlife half- wit was elected (twice) to the highest office in the world's most powerful and hitherto respected country.
