Trump's Government Shutdown Causing Flight Disruptions

The situation with U.S. air traffic was bad enough before the lawless Malignant Fascist and his MAGAt Congress shut down the Government. Air traffic controllers were working long hours as the Government struggled to fill positions.  Now, with the MF's shutdown entering its second week, the situation at airports is becoming increasingly bad, as controllers are forced to work in high pressure conditions without pay.  From the Associated Press:

"Staffing shortages led to more flight delays at airports across the U.S. on Tuesday as the federal government shutdown stretched into a seventh day, while union leaders for air traffic controllers and airport security screeners warned the situation was likely to get worse.

The Federal Aviation Administration reported staffing issues at airports in Nashville, Boston, Dallas, Chicago and Philadelphia, and at its air traffic control centers in Atlanta, Houston and the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The agency temporarily slowed takeoffs of planes headed to the first three cities.

Flight disruptions a day earlier also were tied to insufficient staffing during the shutdown, which began Oct. 1. The FAA reported issues on Monday at the airports in Burbank, California; Newark, New Jersey; and Denver."

The delays and cancellations are starting to have a snowballing effect that will cripple air traffic in the weeks ahead if the MF doesn't order his cult members to accept Dem changes to the One Big Ugly Bill. The MF has also threatened not to restore back pay to some Federal workers, a violation of the Government Employee Fair Treatment Act of 2019.  That should improve the morale of Federal staff doing critical jobs without pay.

  1. One hopes that the cancellations and delays will be the extent of it rather than having a midair because the PTB have decided to continue operations when well past the minimum safe staffing levels.
