CBS News' new right-wing editor-in-chief Bari "Bad News" Weiss has sent an email to the staff of the news organization that's drawn the attention of the union representing them. From Variety.com:
"The Writers Guild of America told union employees it represents at CBS News to not respond to an email requesting information sent to staff by Bari Weiss — The Free Press founder who this week was appointed CBS News’ editor in chief — until CBS provides more details on what the purpose of her missive is, including whether their replies could serve as 'a basis for discipline, discharge, or layoff.' Weiss told CBS News staffers in a memo Friday morning that she was eager 'to understand how you spend your working hours — and ideally, what you’ve made (or are making) that you are most proud of.' She asked every employee at the news division to send her a memo providing those details by Tuesday, Oct. 14, as well as 'your views on what’s working; what’s broken or substandard; and how we can be better.'Weiss said all responses 'will be held in the strictest of confidence.'" (our emphasis)
If this rings a bell, it's because South Afrikaner and ketamine-addled fascist Elon Musk used the same tactic early in the demented Malignant Fascist's regime, when he asked Federal employees to write up a list of five things they'd accomplished. It was widely seen as a means to collect information that would be used for the purpose of firing them.
For their part, the WGA demanded that Weiss provide information about the request by Monday, and for CBS News staff to refrain from responding until they get a satisfactory response. If Bari Bad News expected to schmooze the CBS News staff into following her and the Ellisons off into MAGAland, she probably didn't expect pushback right off the bat. Good that she got it.
