With Virginia and New Jersey voters having clobbered MAGAt candidates in their Governors' races last Tuesday, New York is poised to do the same next year. That's because opportunistic Trump lackey Rep. Elise Stefanik is announcing today that she's running against incumbent Gov. Kathy Hochul. Stefanik, who started as a "traditional" Republican, figured out during the Malignant Fascist's first term that the way to advance in his party cult was to be absolutely loyal to the MF, regardless of past positions. She had hopes of being the MF's UN Ambassador, but was dropped from consideration because her nomination would have faced strong opposition in the Senate. From Politico.com:
"The upstate Republican has served in the House for the last decade and in recent months has ratcheted up her criticism of Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul, repeatedly calling her the “worst governor in America.”
Stefanik is making her announcement after Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, a Republican reelected to a second term on Tuesday, signaled this week he was also considering a bid for governor.
A Stefanik spokesperson declined to comment about her plans.
But Stefanik will be running in a deep blue state where Trump is highly unpopular."
True to her cult's nature, Stefanik has been smearing both Hochul and newly-elected New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani with lines that could have been written by sociopath Stephen Miller or the MF himself:
“'Under Kathy Hochul’s weak catastrophic leadership, New York City has now fallen to a pro-Hamas, Defund the Police, Tax Hiking, Antisemite Jihadist Communist,' Stefanik said in a statement when Tuesday’s mayoral results came in.
'And instead of standing up for hardworking New York families, Kathy Hochul proved once again that she is truly the Worst Governor in America with her desperate endorsement of Commie Mamdani.'”
Shades of 1950s "Commie" hunter Joseph McCarthy or his sidekick (and MF mentor) Roy Cohn! The New York Democratic Party fired back:
“'Elise Stefanik is a rubber stamp in Washington for Trump’s deeply unpopular agenda that is raising costs, gutting health care, and defunding New York schools, hospitals, and police,' said New York Democratic Committee spokesperson Addison Dick. 'Voters in New York and across the country rejected Trump and his enablers earlier this week, and Stefanik will face the same fate when she launches her campaign to put Trump ahead of New Yorkers.'”
These are just Stefanik's opening salvos; wait for her to get her race-baiting, dishonest, fascist style campaign going at full speed. This cynical, craven opportunist traded in whatever values she had years ago, thinking that riding the coat tails of the MF would lead to success, but it will ultimately afford her just a view of his ass.
BONUS: It looks like her campaign website isn't ready for prime time....like her.
