"... I think the reality is, and it pains me to say this, I think the Supreme Court is a broken institution and it’s something that has to be, I think, a part of the national conversation in ’26 and in ’28. What are we gonna do about the Supreme Court? And I think that we have to think about, again, talking about the acquisition, the use of power, if there is a Democratic trifecta in 2028, and I think the possibility of that is pretty good.
"Supreme Court reform is something that has to be considered. Term limits, I think, at a minimum. Potentially expanding the court is something I think that also should be considered. We cannot leave in place without a discussion at least and I think without substantive reforms of being put in place this Supreme Court as it is presently constituted." -- former Attorney General Eric Holder, in an interview with Meidas Touch Network yesterday. It's quaint to be bought into the idea that there might be a Democratic trifecta in 2028. Maybe that's what you have to hope for, and that there isn't a coup of some sort that will keep the MAGAts and their cult leader in power indefinitely. The 2026 mid- term elections will be when we get to see the hand they'll be playing.
In the meantime, we heartily endorse both the affliction and the cure for the rotted out, lawless MAGAt Republican Supreme Court, insofar as expanding the Court. Several of the justices deserved to be impeached as well. But, that would only be in a far better place and time than we're in right now.
π Ooh! You got a little Dickensian at the end! "It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known" [Tale of Two Cities].
ReplyDeleteAnd, I would love to say similar words after '26 and, especially, after '28. I said "similar words" and, yah, I know the speaker was headed to the guillotine! But, a far better vote would give me a far better rest. I sure hope voting is still a thing when the time comes!! π€π€πͺ
Cleora -- stay tuned for "Today's Cartoons," where I will confirm your observation!
ReplyDeleteGiven the $200 Billion for their brown shirt Army, and the recent unpunished autogolpe, pretty sure 250 years of Democracy is over. Love to be wrong.
