Bitter Divisions Displayed At MAGAt Conference

The young fascists attending the annual Turning Point USA conference yesterday in Phoenix were treated to an open display of hostility among their "leaders," underlining the fractures in the Trumpist cult that have been growing during the mentally disturbed Malignant Fascist's second term.  From the Associated Press:

"A simmering battle over the future of President Donald Trump’s political movement exploded on one of the right’s biggest stages Thursday, as prominent conservative influencers used Turning Point USA’s annual youth conference to attack each other and their competing visions. [snip]

First up was Ben Shapiro, who described Tucker Carlson and others as grifters and charlatans, guilty of misleading their audiences with falsehoods and conspiracy theories. Shapiro sharply criticized Carlson, a former Fox News host, for interviewing outspoken antisemite Nick Fuentes on his podcast, calling it 'an act of moral imbecility.'

Barely an hour later, Carlson took the same stage and mocked Shapiro’s attempt to 'deplatform and denounce' people who disagree with him.

'I watched it,' he said. 'I laughed.'

The raw bitterness on the opening night of the four-day conference reflected deep divisions over the meaning of 'America First' and next steps for the 'Make America Great Again' movement defined more by the force of Trump’s personality than loyalty to a particular ideological project." (our emphasis)

There's undeniably a Neo-Nazi / anti-Semitic component of today's MAGA cult, as well as a fan following for Russian thug and war criminal Vladimir Putin. "Mothertucker" Carlson is clearly flirting with the former and involved in the latter, while remnants of the conspiracist QAnon cult are sprinkled throughout the right-wing movement adding their own lunacy to the volatile mix.  It's a clear sign that the cohesion that the failing Malignant Fascist enforced is diminishing, as is the MF's grip on reality.  All the better for America that these feral anti-democratic youth are splitting over who they will follow.
