"Notable Exceptions" In Trump's "Drug Wars" (UPDATED)

Salon.com's excellent Heather Digby Parton adds some context to the paradox of the corrupt, felonious Malignant Fascist, who is about to attack Venezuela for it's alleged "narco-terrorism," while pardoning people convicted of drug trafficking, most prominently the former President of Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernandez, who was involved in trafficking 500 tons of cocaine into the U.S.  Now, the MF is trying to get his right-wing candidate, Nasry Asfura, elected in Honduras, and the interference involves the sinister Roger Stone, fascist Silicon Valley oligarchs and a weird, Ayn Randian experimental "city."  Here's an excerpt, but please read her entire article:

"The New York Times reported that the former Honduran president 'once boasted that he would "stuff the drugs up the gringos’ noses" [and] accepted a $1 million bribe from El Chapo to allow cocaine shipments to pass through Honduras. A man was killed in prison to protect him.' Among the evidence, there was even a machine gun with Hernández’s name on it. Contrary to what Trump’s respected friends told him, the prosecution proved Hernández was a key player in a 20-year scheme to traffic drugs into the United States.

But there were a number of well-paid lobbyists working to get Trump to pardon Hernández, and one of his most trusted advisers, Roger Stone, recently began boosting the case by talking up what he called “the relatively obscure charter city experiment known as Próspera [that was] founded in 2017 as an experiment in freedom.” Crucially, it was founded in Honduras by an American company and “funded through venture capital from Silicon Valley luminaries like Peter Thiel, Marc Andreessen and Sam Altman.” Stone’s claims that Próspera is a libertarian utopia is not widely held, and Honduras’ current government is hostile to the experiment, which explains why it was so important to persuade Trump to weigh in on the current election."  (our emphasis)

It shouldn't surprise anyone if it turns out that a significant amount of money ends up in the pockets of Stone and the MF for their work, courtesy of a pardoned Hernandez and his friends in the "pharmaceutical" business.  We have a "gang of criminals" in charge in this country.

UPDATE Paul Krugman has an explanation for the pardon that involves tech oligarchs, an extremist libertarian party, and crypto interests all working together in an evil web.  Must read and pass along.

  1. 📚🤨 Holy Moley, the layers in this Trump corruption! Oh no, Juan Orlando Hernandez had the book thrown at him by "Biden's weaponized DOJ" and was too harshly treated...a 45-year sentence is so long! So, PARDON!
And yet, the Trump1.0 weaponized DOJ prosecuted the brother, Juan Antonio (Tony) Hernandez, also a Honduran government official and threw the life in prison book at him! Seems harsher but no pardon. Perhaps Tony had no money for scheming with Trump, but mostly Tony was "unlucky" enough to be prosecuted by Emil Bove (one of Trump's personal bagman/hatchetman lawyers), who has lifetime tenure as Trump's judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Oh wow! We can't pardon Tony without embarrassing Bove and Trump so there he sits!
🤬 There are notable exceptions to the notable exceptions!!

  2. Cleora -- excellent points! The notable exceptions are more the rule than the exception as long as they can come up with the cheese.
