The deluded and power mad Malignant Fascist is privately considering using ground troops in Iran for specific strategic purposes, according to NBC News:
"Trump has discussed the idea of deploying ground troops with aides and Republican officials outside the White House while outlining his vision for a post-war Iran in which Iran’s uranium is secure and the U.S. and a new Iranian regime cooperate on oil production similar to how the U.S. and Venezuela are, the sources said.
The president’s comments expressing serious interest in deploying ground troops have not focused on a large-scale ground invasion of Iran, but rather on the idea of a small contingent of U.S. troops that would be used for specific strategic purposes, the U.S. officials, the former U.S. official and the person with knowledge of the discussions said. They said Trump has not made any decisions or given any orders related to ground troops."
Another war in the Middle East involving U.S. troops on the ground would further escalate the conflict, expose more soldiers to death and injury, and alienate the segment of his MAGA coalition that understood him -- erroneously -- to be against U.S. involvement in foreign wars. The MF, who dodged the draft during the Vietnam War and who has disparaged fallen soldiers as "losers" and "suckers," ran on an "America First" platform of "no more stupid wars." Surrounded as he is by sycophants, it's unclear who would discourage him from inserting troops into Iran. He is said to be enamored of the successful operation in Venezuela that captured President Nicolas Maduro, and the so-far cooperation with the new government:
"Trump has privately described to aides and Republican officials outside the White House that his ideal outcome in Iran is one like the emerging dynamic between the U.S. and Venezuela since American special forces captured Nicolás Maduro in January, the current U.S. officials and former U.S. official said."
In his profound ignorance, the MF will never understand the differences between Iran and Venezuela to any degree, and the make-up of Iran's theocratic institutions. As far as human lives lost or changed, those are the least of the sociopathic MF's concerns.
