We lost Irish singer/ songwriter/ actor Glen Hansard earlier this week at the too-young age of 56, killed in a motorbike accident near Dublin. In addition to fronting his own band, The Frames, he was a frequent collaborator on the projects of other artists, including Eddie Vedder/ Pearl Jam, Bono, Bruce Springsteen, and Ed Sheeran. His collaboration with Czech singer/ songwriter Markéta Irglová was in the form of the duo The Swell Season, who released their third studio album "Forward" last year. The song we're featuring today is from an earlier time in their collaboration, "Falling Slowly" from the soundtrack to the Irish musical romance film "Once." It's an achingly beautiful, melancholy composition, a coda to a promising life cut short. R.I.P.
