Trump and Xi / you have to have cognition to have cognitive dissonance --

U.S. President Donald Trump is making communism a midterm attack line against Democrats. But this week, he's rolling out the red carpet for Chinese President Xi Jinping, the leader of the world's most powerful communist country.

Nothing screams “peaceful transfer of power” quite like a giant murder arch in the middle of Washington, D.C.

I feel like one of the few genuine takeaways of the past decade is that there are apparently no circumstances that would actually warrant the invocation of the 25th amendment

A knowable tragedy --

We’re being run by an unhinged, corrupt egomaniac who thinks he’s a king and has no use for the constitution. And most of the media still just covers it like it’s normal.

The tragedy has been so knowable. This from seven years ago — and we’re still paying for so many Americans letting it happen.

  1. The 25th amendment is fatally flawed. It assumes that the cabinet is staffed with sane, patriotic people because the nomination and confirmation process ensures that outcome. But this time around it hasn't worked and the cabinet is staffed with qualified party-firsters. Congress could have passed a law to have another body assume the role of the cabinet but hasn't to date and it's too late for it do so now. Even then the problem is that the president can inform the Congress that in fact no disability warranting removal exists; in that case the Congress has to assert that the disability does exist with a 2/3 vote in both houses. Impeaching and removing the president is much easier since it requires a simple majority in the House to impeach and a 2/3 majority in the Senate; no cabinet involvement is required and the House has a lower threshold.

So, yes the 25th will not be invoked, now or ever.
