Pivotal Elections Today In Israel

Elections are underway today in Israel to determine whether the far-right government of corrupt Likudnik and accused war criminal Bibi "Bomb Bomb" Netanyahu will be replaced.  Polls suggest that the race between Netanyahu and his challenger, former military chief of staff Gadi Eisenkot, is tight.  Turnout thus far has been heavy, with the issues of national security, West Bank settlements and accountability for the attack on October 7, 2023, which reports indicate that Netanyahu was forewarned about  by officials in Egypt and the UAE.

Neither Netanyahu nor Eisenkot are expected to win an outright majority, which will require forming a coalition government, a situation that could take weeks of negotiations and bargaining.  Nevertheless, the defeat of Netanyahu would be the third defeat of a far-right leader in the past few days, after Serbia's Vucic and Brazil's Bolsonaro.  Fingers crossed.  Stay tuned.
