Russia had accused Mr. Hubbard of being a Ukrainian mercenary.
“You talk so much about my president, President Trump, being a humanitarian,” Mr. Witkoff told Mr. Putin. “You are a humanitarian also, sir, and I salute that.” … The Russian leader, who started a war of aggression against Ukraine that has led to the deaths of tens of thousands of Ukrainian soldiers and civilians, is wanted as a war criminal by the International Criminal Court...
What an embarrassment for someone ostensibly representing the United States to grovel to this tin pot dictator and war criminal. That same war criminal to whom you're giving a tongue bath kidnapped a 70ish-year-old retired teacher and held him in prison for 4 years! What a humanitarian!
Kudos to New York Times reporters David E. Sanger and Kim Barker for counterpointing Witkoff's shameful twaddle with a bloody reality check.
