Today would have been John Lennon's 86th birthday. Assassinated on December 8, 1980, Lennon's impact on music beyond that awful day will forever remain unknown. Rather than rehash his many musical contributions with The Beatles, as a solo artist, and with The Plastic Ono Band, let's just remember him today with a small selection of his music.
Lennon cited "Strawberry Fields Forever" as his finest work with the Beatles, so we'll start with that.
"I Should Have Known Better," from The Beatles early days (1964), was featured in their film, "A Hard Day's Night."
Finally, what else but his signature 1971 anthem, "Imagine."
(Happy Birthday to Silver Spring Bureau Chief Brian, too!)
