Today's Cartoon - Hunting The Wrong Witch

(Nick Anderson, Houston Chronicle)

We couldn't agree more with John Cole:
We have reached the inevitable point of absurdity in this witch hunt, as we have now spent more investigative energy looking into whether a newsreader saw a floating corpse than we did the totality of the lies of Judy Miller, the lies about Jessica Lynch, and the lies regarding Pat Tillman. All because Brian Williams was trying to do something nice for a retired Army guy by taking him to an NHL game.
As we said yesterday, wouldn't it have been nice if these diligent truth seekers had been as diligent in the run-up to the Iraq war?

UPDATE:  The hounds have treed their quarry (no, not Cheney;  Williams).

Our Broken Media, Cont'd.

"As you would expect, we have a team dedicated to gathering the facts to help us make sense of all that has transpired.  We’re working on what the best next steps are – and when we have something to communicate we will of course share it with you." --  (emphasis added) from an internal e-mail to staff from NBC News President Deborah Turness, reflecting on Brian Williams' now-discredited story about his presence in a helicopter shoot down incident in Iraq in 2003.

Don't you wish these people and their major media colleagues had shown the same dedication to "gathering the facts" about Dumbya and Dick's Iraq war fraud before many thousands of lives were lost there?  Molehill meet mountain.
