History Upside Down

Again, Frank Rich delivers a must-read column in this morning's New York Times, this time on the deceitful attempts to rewrite history by Karl "Turdblossom" Rove and Liz "Lizard" Cheney. Sadly, the revisionism is not getting sufficient pushback from either the Obama Administration or the "librul" media, which mostly was swallowing the propaganda whole during the selling of the war with Iraq by the Bushit crew. As Rich notes:
"If we are really to keep America safe, it’s essential we remember exactly which American politicians empowered Iran, Al Qaeda and the Taliban from 2001 to 2008, and why. History will be repeated not only if we forget it, but also if we let it be rewritten by those whose ideological zealotry and boneheaded decisions have made America less safe to this day."

Why Does The Dick Hate America?

CIA Director Leon Panetta, in an upcoming interview in the New Yorker magazine, says that former (Vice) President The Dick almost seems to be "wishing that this country would be attacked again, in order to make his point" that the Obama Administration is weaker on national security. Panetta concludes, "I think that's dangerous politics." The Dick is only one of many Rethugs who seem to be betting on, and wishing for, another attack on the U.S., much as they're wishing that Obama "fails" in his economic recovery program. For a group that has wrapped itself in the flag and patriotism for at least 50 years, it's obvious that the Rethug party and their power come first.

And when will the assclowns in the mainstream media start asking The Dick why he didn't keep us safe on 9/11, on their watch? Because they were far too busy obsessing on Saddam Hussein, who was the main subject of the Bushies' first National Security Council meeting in January 2001. A month before the 9/11 attack, they were warned by the CIA that an attack by al Qaeda was coming -- and, specifically, one using hijacked aircraft.

Dumbya and The Dick Made Us Less Safe

In case you missed yesterday's op-ed article by Frank Rich in the New York Times, he has a terrific slapdown of The Dick's disinformation campaign about torture and national security. He cites the long-standing, probing journalism of the McClatchy Newspapers' Jonathan Landay and Warren Strobel, and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Ron Suskind in exposing the deceitful propaganda of the Bush/Cheney Administration over the Iraq War, while al Qaeda in Afghanistan and Pakistan had time to recoup and rebuild. All the while, cowed by insinuations about their patriotism, many Dems in Congress and the Beltway media villagers facilitated the deceptions and avoided asking the right questions -- if they asked any questions at all.

As Rich notes, Pakistan has been revealed as al Qaeda's true prize, a country with a ready-made nuclear arsenal and segments of the population ready to listen to al Qaeda:
"The harrowing truth remains unchanged from what it was before Cheney emerged from his bunker to set Washington atwitter. The Bush administration did not make America safer either before or after 9/11. Obama is not making us less safe. If there's another terrorist attack, it will be because the mess the Bush administration ignored in Pakistan and Afghanistan spun beyond anyone's control well before Americans could throw the bums out."
