Convicting The Insurrectionists -- Cop Assaulting Cop

Then:

Now:

We covered his arrest.  Now another MAGAt insurrectionist gets his comeuppance, a cop no less.

A Maryland police officer was convicted on Friday of charges that he joined a mob’s Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol and hurled a smoke bomb and other objects at police officers guarding a tunnel entrance.

U.S. District Judge Trevor McFadden heard two days of trial testimony without a jury this week before he found Montgomery County Police Officer Justin Lee guilty of two felonies and three misdemeanors. The judge, who also acquitted Lee of two other misdemeanors, is scheduled to sentence him on Nov. 22.

Lee, 26, ignited and threw a smoke bomb into the tunnel entrance on the Capitol’s Lower West Terrace, where a mob of rioters attacked a group of outnumbered police officers. The device struck a police officer’s riot shield and filled the mouth of the tunnel with a large plume of smoke, prosecutors said.

“No police officer should have to endure these attacks and provocations,” McFadden said.

Lee, who remains free until his sentencing, didn’t show any obvious reaction as the judge read aloud his verdict. His attorney declined to comment after the hearing.

After Lee’s arrest last October, the police department said it had suspended him without pay. Department spokesperson Shiera Goff said police officials will be “moving ahead with termination procedures” now that Lee has been convicted.

“The actions of one individual do not define the entire department,” the department said in a statement last year.

Lee, of Rockville, Maryland, applied to be a Montgomery County police officer in July 2021 — six months after the riot. The department said it hired Lee approximately one year after the riot and didn’t know about his alleged involvement in the attack until July 2023, when it learned he was under FBI investigation.

Videos show Lee wearing a Maryland flag-patterned gaiter over his face outside the Capitol. He also wore a military-style medical bag attached to his clothes.

Lee waved at other rioters to overtake police as the mob attacked a line of officers on the West Plaza, according to prosecutors. Moving to the Lower West Terrace, Lee tossed the smoke bomb and three other “rock-like objects” at officers guarding the tunnel, the judge found. Prosecutors said Lee later joined other rioters in “spotlighting” officers inside the tunnel with a flashlight.

The judge rejected Lee’s claim that he was “just trying to make a statement” about police brutality after seeing officers use force against other rioters that day. McFadden also said he believes Lee went to the Capitol on Jan. 6 intending to disrupt Congress from certifying Joe Biden’s victory over Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election. [snip]

More than 1,400 people have been charged with Capitol riot-related federal crimes. Over 900 of them have pleaded guilty. Over 200 others have been convicted after trials decided by a judge or jury.

This is one of the insurrectionist "hostages" coup leader Malignant Loser would pardon upon getting into the White House again.  A person of Asian heritage fighting for White Nationalism.  A moron.

Convicting The Insurrectionists: "The Scion"

The scion of a notable right-wing family was convicted for his role in the January 6 MAGA insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.  Brent Bozell IV (the fourth no less!) was convicted on multiple charges, including five felonies, for what the Justice Department was a "pivotal" role in several breaches of the Capitol. The DOJ is asking for an 11- year sentence. From the DOJ charging document:

"Leo Brent Bozell IV led the charge in a violent attack on the United States Capitol. ... Bozell participated in—and often led—a series of critical breaches on January 6: the police line under the scaffolding (2:00 p.m.); the police line on the landing of the Northwest Stairs (2:09 p.m.); the final police line at the top of the Northwest Stairs (2:11 p.m.); the initial breach of the Capitol building at the Senate Wing Doors (2:12 p.m.); the police line near the Carriage Door (2:21 p.m.); the East Rotunda Doors (2:38 p.m.); the Senate Gallery (2:42 p.m.), and the Senate Floor (2:49 p.m.)."

He was a busy little StormTrumper. From NBC's linked report:

"Bozell, court evidence showed, was among the first rioters to enter the Capitol, and he joined the mob as it chased U.S. Capitol Police Officer Eugene Goodman up the stairs near the Senate floor. Bozell soon entered House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office and left carrying an unidentified object in his hand,' prosecutors said, before he joined other rioters as they breached the East Rotunda doors from the inside, allowing more rioters to flow inside." (our emphasis)

We wonder what the thief stole from Speaker Pelosi's office. In any event, his political shitstain goes back at least two generations. His father (the III) is a founder of the Media Research Center and NewsBusters, two right wing propaganda mills, and is influential in far-right circles. The grandfather (the II) was a notorious right- winger associated with the infamous Sen. Joseph McCarthy (R-WI) as a speechwriter, who adored fascist dictator Francisco Franco of Spain.

The "IV" will be sentenced on May 17, and we sincerely hope this descendant of right-wing hacks gets the full 11 years requested.

Convicting The Insurrectionists -- Two Peabrains In A Pod

Two more MAGAts have been convicted for their roles in the violent January 6 insurrection. We have a long excerpt, there being two of the scumbags to cover:

A man who worked as a politically appointed State Department official in former President Donald Trump’s administration was convicted Thursday of charges that he attacked police officers during the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021.

U.S. District Judge Trevor McFadden heard testimony without a jury before he convicted the former official, Federico Guillermo Klein, and a co-defendant, Steven Cappuccio, of assault charges and other felony offenses stemming from the riot at the U.S. Capitol by a mob of Trump supporters.

Klein and Cappuccio were among nine co-defendants charged with crimes related to one of the most violent and pivotal episodes of the Jan. 6 siege: brutal waves of hand-to-hand combat between rioters and police officers in a tunnel leading to a Capitol entrance on the Lower West Terrace.

Klein and Cappuccio converged on the tunnel as outnumbered police officers struggled for hours to hold back the mob of rioters, prosecutors said in a court filing.

McFadden convicted Klein of 12 counts, including six charging him with assaulting, resisting or impeding police officers. Klein is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 3.

The judge is scheduled to sentence Cappuccio on Oct. 19. McFadden convicted him of assault charges but acquitted him of two counts, including a felony charge that he obstructed the Jan. 6 joint session of Congress for certifying Biden’s 2020 electoral victory. But, McFadden convicted Klein of the same obstruction charge.

The judge said the tunnel was the scene of “shocking violence and hostility” against police.

“No police officer should have had to endure those attacks without provocation,” McFadden said.  [snip]

Klein, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served in Iraq, had a Top Secret security clearance and had been working since 2017 in the State Department’s office of Brazilian and Southern Cone Affairs. He resigned from that position on Jan. 19, 2021, a day before President Joe Biden’s inauguration.

Klein, wearing a red “Make America Great Again” hat, was in the first wave of rioters to enter the tunnel, according to prosecutors. They said Klein pushed hard against officers, telling them, “You can’t stop this!” and repeatedly drove his shoulder into an officer who tried to push him back with his baton.

Klein also wedged a stolen police riot shield between two doors, preventing officers from closing them, prosecutors said.

“With the shield as a wedge, Klein and other rioters pried the doors open again and continued their attacks on the police in the tunnel, which lasted for more than two more hours,” prosecutors wrote.

Video captured Klein exhorting other rioters to attack police, repeatedly yelling, “We need fresh people!”

Cappuccio yelled, “Storming the castle, boys!” and chanted, “Fight for Trump!” and “Our house!” as he reached the Lower West Terrace. In the tunnel, he joined other rioters in pushing against the police line, prosecutors said.

“All the while, Cappuccio continued to hold his phone in the air, recording the violence between the rioters and the police line,” they wrote.

When another rioter pinned Metropolitan Police Officer Daniel Hodges against a door, Cappuccio ripped a gas mask off the officer’s face and dislodged his helmet, prosecutors said.

“Cappuccio then took Officer Hodges’ riot baton out of his hands and used the baton tostrike Officer Hodges in the face,” they wrote. “Throughout this vicious assault, Officer Hodges screamed and pleaded for help.”

Cappuccio, also a military veteran, drove from Texas to Washington, D.C. to attend Trump’s “Stop the Steal” rally on Jan. 6. He was arrested at his home in Universal City, Texas, in August 2021.

Klein, a native of Washington region who also worked for Trump’s 2016 campaign, was arrested in March 2021...

Two military vets bringing disgrace to the uniforms and the oaths they took to defend the Constitution. As among the more violent of the insurrectionists, they deserve maximum penalties when sentenced, especially Cappuccio for his vicious assault on Officer Hodges.

Our earlier post on Klein's arrest is here.

More and more of these fascist traitors are being arrested, prosecuted, and convicted every day. Do your country a favor:  anyone with tips can call 1-800-CALL-FBI (800-225-5324) or visit tips.fbi.gov.

Convicting The Insurrectionists: Zip-Tie Guy & Oppressed Mama Grizzly

More January 6 insurrectionists get justice, this time a mother/ son combo:

A federal court Tuesday handed down guilty verdicts for the Nashville man best known as “zip-tie guy” and his mother for the pair’s role in the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol.

Eric Munchel, who infamously brandished zip ties as he walked the inside of the Capitol during the riot, and his mother Lisa Eisenhart, of Woodstock, Georgia, were found guilty on all charges in a D.C. District Court Tuesday.

The pair are scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 8.

Originally charged mainly with trespassing charges, the charges against Munchel and Eisenhart expanded in October to include obstruction, conspiracy, disorderly conduct and unauthorized entry. Munchel was found guilty of additional charges for carrying a deadly or dangerous weapon on Capitol grounds because he was armed with a Taser, court records say.  [snip]

On Jan. 4, 2021, Munchel and Eisenhart traveled from Nashville, where Munchel worked as a bartender, to D.C. to participate in election protest rallies scheduled for Jan. 5-6. according to court records.

Munchel and Eisenhart arrived at the Capitol on Jan. 6 donning tactical vests, and Munchel had a Taser holstered at his hip and his cell phone mounted on his chest. Munchel’s cell phone recorded a 50-minute video that captured most of the pair’s approach and entry to the Capitol building, prosecutors said.

Once inside, Munchel spotted and picked up the zip-ties that he became known for, and he was photographed carrying them as he stepped over seats in the Senate chamber.

Eisenhart later told a reporter for the London Times that “this country was founded on revolution” and said she’d “rather die as a 57-year-old woman than live under oppression.”

Eisenhart’s attorney said the judge allowed the mother and son to remain on release after Tuesday’s trial and before sentencing. Her attorney declined to comment for this story.

The FBI is still looking for January 6 insurrectionists.  If you recognize anyone not yet apprehended, do your country a favor and pick up the phone.
